The Indian football team will be playing their World Cup 2022 game against Afghanistan today at the Central Republican Stadium in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The Indian team will play in the second round of the tournament and will hope to seal a win. The team will miss the services of Sandesh Jhinghan who had undergone surgery after a knee injury which occurred last month during a friendly game. Anas Edathodika has come back to India after a family emergency. So now the responsibility of the team is on the likes of Sunil Chhetri and Manvir Singh. Ahead of the game, Indian coach, Igor Stimac addressed the press and said that the team is quite well aware of the difficulties they could face and they see Afghanistan as a good side. They are not in the top division, but playing in Europe always gives you an extra bit of confidence. They have stamina and they’ll pose a tough challenge for us,” Stimac said in the pre-match press conference. The match will begin from 7.30 pm IST.
