Athletics rookie infielder Joshua Kuroda-Grauer has been placed on the 10-day injured list following emergency surgery for a ruptured t*sticle, the club announced Tuesday, July 21. The injury occurred during the Athletics' 5-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field in Phoenix on Monday, July 20, when Kuroda-Grauer fouled off a pitch in the fifth inning that took an unfortunate ricochet off his body.

How The Injury Happened

The impact left Kuroda-Grauer down at the plate for several moments before he got back up and lined a base hit to right-center field. He remained in the game for a stretch afterward before being replaced defensively at third base by Donovan Walton in the bottom of the seventh inning.

A Hot Start To His MLB Career

Kuroda-Grauer made his major-league debut on June 29 in a 9-4 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, notching three hits in his first outing. In the 16 games that followed before his injury, he racked up eight multi-hit games, quickly establishing himself as one of the Athletics' most exciting young bats.

His rookie campaign will now be put on pause as he recovers, with the Athletics hopeful he can return to the lineup once cleared.
