Sania Mirza Makes Much-Awaited Comeback After Two Years With Doubles Win at 2020 Hobart International

Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza made her much-awaited comeback in the 2020 Hobart Internationals on January 14, 2020 (Tuesday). Mirza made a positive return to competitive action after a hiatus that lasted for over two years with a round of 16 victory in the women’s doubles category. The Indian tennis star was partnered by Nadiia Kichenok of Ukraine as they took on the Japanese-Georgian duo of Miyu Kato and Oksana Kalashnikova. It was an intense affair as the match went into a tiebreak after both pairs had one set each but Mirza and Kichenok prevailed in the end. Sania Mirza Named in Indian Fed Cup Squad.

Sania Mirza made her return to competitive tennis after almost two years away from the game with an impressive win in the ongoing Hobart International in the women’s doubles category. The former World No 1 and her partner Nadiia Kichenok defeated Oksana Kalashnikova and Miyu Kato 2-6, 7-6 (10-3) to advance to the quarter-finals of the tournament. Mirza and Kichenok fought back brilliantly after losing the first set and took the match into a tiebreaker by winning the second. The Indian-Ukranian pair were too good in the tiebreak and won it with ease. Comeback Win

Mirza has returned to WTA action after two years as she took a break from first tennis due to injury and then to give birth. The Indian star last played at China Open in October 2017 and will resume her regular action as she will play at the Australian Open, starting from January 20, 2020, where she will partner former World No 3 Rohan Bopanna in the mixed doubles category.
