Serena Williams has reached yet another final of a Grand Slam and it's at the same slam where it all began for a 19-year-old Serena when she won her first major at the US Open in 1999. Her opponent this time is 19-year-old Canada's Bianca Andreescu. "If someone told me a year ago that I would be in the finals of the US Open this year, I would tell them 'You are crazy,'" official website of US Open quoted Andreescu as saying. However, she now stands between Serena and history as the legend is one win away from equalling Margaret Court's record. The last time Andreescu faced Serena Williams in the Rogers Cup final in Toronto in August, Serena was forced to retire with a back injury. Earlier in the day, Serena defeated Elina Svitolina 6-3, 6-1 to enter the finals of the tournament. The finals of the US Open between Serena and Andreescu will take place on Sunday, September 8.

Below Are Few Records Serena Williams Is Chasing at US Open 2019 Final

1. Serena Williams, the winner of 23 Grand Slam titles, will face Canada's Bianca Andreescu in Saturday's final at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. Serena Williams is chasing a host of records, with the most prominent being equalling Margaret Court's record for most Grand Slams (24) won.

2. The 37-year-old Williams reached her 10th US Open final by beating Elina Svitolina in the semi-finals. Her opponent, the 19-year-old Bianca Andreescu, will be playing the first Grand Slam final of her career.

3. Serena Williams, after her semi-final victory, has levelled with Chris Evert for the most number of wins (101) at the US Open Grand Slam. The last US Open she won was in 2014.

4. Serena Williams has won six US Opens titles. The American won the first out of the 23 Grand Slams she holds in 1999 at the US Open itself. However, Serena is chasing her first major since the 2017 Australian Open and after embracing motherhood.

5. Serena Williams has now reached the final in four of the last six Grand Slams she has played.

6. With her place in the finals, Serena Williams also owns the largest gap between first Grand Slam final appearance and most recent final appearance at 19 years, 362 days. Her opponent in the final, Bianca Andreescu was not even born when Serena played her first Grand Slam.

If Serena Williams wins the US Open 2019 final, she will surpass Chris Evert for most number of US Open titles (7). Serena already holds the record for winning the most number of titles at the Australian Open (7). She also has seven Wimbledon titles and three French Open title to her name. The American legend has a chance to equal Margaret Court and further strengthen her claim as the GOAT (Greatest of All Time), if she already hasn't.
