Cupertino, July 1: Apple has brought groundbreaking technology to smartphones and computing with its iPhone and Mac systems over the years. The tech giant recently announced major changes in its software, including iOS, iPadOS, macOS Sequoia, watchOS, and others. The company termed the new system Apple Intelligence, which finally introduced the much-needed features powered by machine learning.

Apple was also called "slow" to adopt these features compared to other companies in the market. However, the new features, groundbreaking enough, brought the company back into the mainstream. Now, Apple is rumoured to be working on yet another revolution in display. Apple has yet to launch its first foldable phone; however, this time, Apple might be skipping that idea and bringing a "stretchable" display on its upcoming devices. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Expected To Launch in These Colours; Check Leaked Renders Details Ahead of Galaxy Unpacked Event.

According to a report by AppleInsider, "Apple is working on stretchable displays" for its upcoming smartphone. The report mentioned that the upcoming "iPhone Fold" could feature a display that may stretch, unlike other foldable smartphones in the market. As per other reports, Apple filed a patent in the United States, which hinted at the possible innovations coming in the smartphone market, especially in the new category of iPhones.

In 2026, Apple is expected to replace the iPad Mini with its new foldable iPad. The same goes for the Macbook Pro, which might be replaced by the tech giant with a foldable iPad. From the foldable iPhone to the foldable iPad and foldable Macbook, the tech giant has been rumoured to launch devices that could "fold." However, the report said that the term "foldable" might not be appropriate as the company has been going off-the-track by launching its devices with "stretchable displays." Oppo A3 Teased Ahead of July 2 Launch; Check Details Here.

It mentioned that the whole patent application had been a light example of how stretchable displays could be used. Such Apple stretchable displays could be used in smaller devices like the Apple watch, iPhones, Macbooks, and more. Apple is expected to unveil more details in the coming months as the development stages clear.
