After launching Galaxy Note 9 flagship smartphone earlier this week, Samsung India is now shifting its focus in the entry-level premium smartphone space. With an aim to cater the increasing needs of the buyers in the space, Samsung India is looking to introduce A8 Star smartphone in the country, which will be pitted against OnePlus 6 and Poco F1 devices. The upcoming smartphone was spotted on a support page, which later on went live on company's official Indian website followed by a teaser uploaded on Amazon. Going by the teaser, the e-commerce giant has revealed the pricing for the new Samsung A8 Star, which was released in China a few months ago. According to the teaser, the Korean smartphone maker will be launching the device at Rs. 34,990. Moreover, the teaser image confirms that the arrival of the smartphone is quite imminent. Talking about the specifications, the forthcoming smartphone from Samsung is expected to feature a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED Infinity Display with resolution of 1080X2220. The smartphone will also carry 80 percent of screen-to-body ratio. Powering the device could be a Snapdragon 660 chipset from Qualcomm, which is likely to be mated to 4GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage. The internal memory will also be expandable up to 400GB via microSD card.
The camera department will consist of a dual camera module featuring 16MP primary sensor and 24MP secondary sensor along with a 24MP selfie shooter. To be backed by 3700 mAh battery, the smartphone will run Android 8.0 Oreo along with Experience 9.0 on the top. Likely to be priced similar to OnePlus 6, the new Samsung A8 Star smartphone will take on recently launched Pocophone F1 and Asus Zenfone 5z.
