Samsung is set to unveil its latest foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, with significant display advancements expected to headline the launch. Following the design shifts seen in the previous generation, this new model focuses on refining the user experience through substantial internal display improvements.

Enhanced Display Resolution and Sharpness

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is expected to retain an 8-inch foldable OLED panel, but with a notable increase in resolution. As per a report by SamMobile, the resolution will rise to 2,504 x 2,256 pixels, boosting pixel density from 368ppi to approximately 422ppi. This adjustment is designed to provide roughly 15 per cent sharper visuals, which will be particularly beneficial for reading documents and browsing the web.

Brightness, Anti-Reflective Coating and Durability

Samsung has also focused on improving outdoor visibility and durability. As per the report, the internal screen will reach a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, an increase over the 2,600 nits offered by the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Additionally, the integration of an anti-reflective coating is intended to minimise glare, while a 33 per cent thicker Ultra Thin Glass panel aims to provide a more robust, glass-like tactile feel.

Advanced Hinge and Reduced Crease

A critical component of the upcoming series is the introduction of the Flex Titanium hinge mechanism. By utilising a titanium-alloy film and advanced hole-processing technology, Samsung aims to eliminate air gaps between the panel and the underlying plate. These engineering changes are projected to make the screen crease almost invisible, further bridging the gap between foldable devices and traditional smartphones.
