WhatsApp, an instant messaging platform has received number of updates in the past, which are rolled out to make the application more feature loaded and safer. Now, it is learnt that WhatsApp is looking to introduce targeted advertisements to its platform. Several reports claim that these ads will be displayed in the status tab of the messenger. It is also reported that several users will be looking to switch to other ad-free applications. Meanwhile, there is also certain level of excitement among the users as the company rolls out any new feature. As a reminder, WhatsApp Sticker update has brought some excitement among the users by providing a new way of communication or interaction.

However, not all users will love the new ads feature. Not even WhatsApp fan site, WaBetainfo. Moreover, they have initiated a poll on Twitter and asked the users regarding their view on the update. The tweets says - "Will you continue to use WhatsApp after the activation of the Status Ads feature?"

The American tech giant seems to be emphasizing on the money part, whereas WhatsApp was developed only to focus on the privacy part. Also, the founders of WhatsApp - Jan Koum and Brian Acton have left the company over disagreement with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg related to the future of the application. We also reported previously that Neeraj Arora - Business Chief Office too resigned from the company.

WhatsApp spokesperson stated that, "WhatsApp does not currently run ads in Status though this represents a future goal for us, starting in 2019. We will move slowly and carefully and provide more details before we place any Ads in Status."
