Mumbai, October 10: Xiaomi has offered its smartphones with an Android-based MIUI OS for over a decade. The first MIUI was launched in 2010 which was based on Android 2.2.x Froyo and was initially developed by the company. Later, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer introduced new features and in-built applications such as music, gallery, backup, notes, and more. Now, almost all the Xiaomi devices run on MIUI versions with new features and apps. Xiaomi's latest UI is MIUI 14, and the company is expected to launch its new "MIUI 15" for the future smartphone series and in previous eligible models.

According to reports, the Chinese smartphone provider may not continue with MIUI and adopt an entirely new OS called "MiOS" in the coming years. Xiaomi is likely to adopt this new name like 'iOS". If Xiaomi decides to change its UI name, then it would be a significant change in the company's brand image for the future. As per reports, the company may not just add a skin to the Android's OS but develop an entirely new MiOS exclusively for its devices. X New Feature Update: Users Can Now Limit Replies To Verified Users and Block Unverified Accounts From Replying To Posts.

Will Xiaomi Stop MIUI and Adopt MiOS in the Coming Years?

The claims that the Chinese smartphone manufacturer will discontinue the long-running MIUI and adopt a new MiOS are not supported by the company for now. The company has yet to confirm the rumours and break the silence about the new UI. According to the reports, MiOS could be first launched in China and later rolled out globally. The other reports say that the new MiOS may be available only in China and not other countries. Xiaomi is currently busy working on its next MIUI 15 for its new Xiaomi devices and older smartphones eligible for updates. OnePlus Open Likely To Launch in India Soon: Check New Teaser Video, Photo and Expected Features of New OnePlus Foldable Smartphone.

Xiaomi could test its new OS in China and make it available globally just like Vivo did with its Origin OS. Vivo made its Origin OS available in China, while devices in other countries run on Funtouch OS. Xiaomi has not opened up about changing its operating system for mobile and adopting a completely new one. Still, as per reports, the company may announce its plans at the launch event of the Xiaomi 14 series.
