We previously reported that Xiaomi is all set to launch the new Xi A2 (Mi 6X) smartphone in the Chinese market on April 15. Ahead of its launch, the company reportedly seems to have discontinued its first Android One based smartphone in the country. Launched in India last September, the Mi A1 was company re-branded version of Mi X5 which was first launched in the Chinese market. With the discontinuation of Mi A1 smartphone, the company seems to have giving hints at the arrival of the new Mi A2 in India.

Touted as mid-range smartphone, the Mi A1 is currently out of stock on the official India website. As per the information from the partners in the Capital region, the company has halted the supplies for Mi A1 which gives strong hints that company is planning to launch its second Android One based smartphone in India.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the new Mi 6X smartphone is likely to feature 5.99-inch display panel with aspect ratio of 18:9 and resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. To be fitted with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 660 SoC processor, the smartphone is expected to be offered in 3 different storage options.

Going by the market rumors, the new upcoming Mi A2 aka Mi 6X could be launched in 3 variants wherein the base variant could feature 4GB of RAM and 32 of internal storage. However, the higher model could sport 6GB of RAM along with option for 64GB or 128GB of onboard storage capacity.

The new Mi 6X will also bring-in some improvements in the camera department as well which will be in-line with the recently launched Redmi Note 5 Pro. Going by the reports, it is believed that the smartphone will sport dual camera module at the rear (12MP sony IMX486 sensor with 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor) supporting 4K video recording. For selfies, the smartphone will be equipped with 20MP shooter with f/2.2 aperture with dedicated front LED flash. The smartphone is expected to run on Android 8.1 Oreo OS out-of-the-box for the Indian market. Lastly, on the price front, the new Mi A2 smartphone is expected to be slightly premium that the current model which could be priced around Rs. 15,000.
