A 4-year-old boy was attacked by a coyote while standing in his grandmother’s driveway in Southern California, an incident captured on surveillance video. The boy, Solomon, suffered minor puncture wounds but was not seriously injured. Authorities are investigating and working to locate the animal.

The attack occurred Tuesday while Solomon was near his mother’s car at his grandparents’ home. Surveillance footage shows the coyote grabbing and pulling the boy to the ground as his mother unloaded supplies. Sarina Donohoo, the child’s mother, described the incident: “All of a sudden, I just hear him screaming and I turned around and screamed as well because I see the coyote on the top of him. My initial response was just I need to get him away and I need to see if he's okay.”

Solomon sustained superficial puncture wounds on his leg and torso and received prompt medical care. His grandparents, who live near a local school, report that coyotes are frequently sighted in the neighborhood. Stephanie Fields, Solomon’s grandmother, expressed frustration over perceived inaction: “It hurts my heart that nothing has been done. That there are not protections in place.”

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is actively trying to locate the coyote involved. This incident echoes a similar attack in Carson last year, when a 6-year-old boy was hospitalized after a coyote bite to his head and legs. Residents have called for stronger measures to protect children and the community from wildlife encounters.
