Florida Therapist Has Secret S*xual Relationship With Patient, Arrested

A mental health therapist intern at a Florida addiction treatment facility has been arrested and charged after investigators accused her of engaging in a secret s*xual relationship with a patient under her care. Michelle Luchau-Rebora, 32, surrendered to authorities on September 1 and faces a felony charge of a psychotherapist engaging in s*xual conduct with a client without authorisation.
Investigation and Allegations
The case centres on activities allegedly occurring between June and September 2025, reports Local 10 and NBC Miami. At the time, Luchau-Rebora was working as an intern serving as a mental health therapist at New Hope C.O.R.P.S., an alcohol and drug treatment facility located in Homestead, Florida. According to an arrest report, the alleged victim - a 42-year-old male patient and resident at the facility - stated that the two were s*xually involved for about three months, with some encounters occurring during therapy sessions. Investigators allege that Luchau-Rebora "facilitated alibis on his behal", allowing the patient to bypass facility restrictions and leave to meet her. The unauthorised private encounters reportedly took place at multiple locations, including her Pinecrest home, her mother's home in Key Biscayne, and Jackson Memorial Hospital. Authorities also noted that she instructed the patient to keep the relationship secret, warning that disclosure could affect her professional career.
Facility Response and Legal Proceedings
The relationship came to light after Luchau-Rebora ended it, prompting the patient to report the matter to facility administrators. New Hope C.O.R.P.S. immediately dismissed her and notified law enforcement. "This is an unfortunate situation involving allegations concerning an individual who was serving as an intern with New Hope CORPS,” said Executive Director Stephen Alvarez in a statement.
"Upon becoming aware of the allegations, New Hope promptly reported the matter to the appropriate authorities and agencies, terminated the individual’s internship, and fully cooperated with the subsequent investigation," Alvarez added. Following her surrender, Luchau-Rebora appeared in court, where a judge set her bond at USD 5,000 alongside a strict no-contact order regarding the victim. She subsequently posted bail and was released pending trial.
