Georgia’s youngest elected mayor, Jayden Williams, has been removed from office just 10 months into his term following allegations of city fund misuse and the exchange of s*xually suggestive messages and images with an 18-year-old high school student. Williams, who recently turned 23, was impeached by the Stockbridge City Council following an investigation into public fund expenditures and ethical conduct.

“The City of Stockbridge confirms that the City Council has taken formal action concerning the Office of Mayor,” the city said in a statement. “The Mayor has been removed from office," it added. US Personnel Shot by Eswatini Soldiers During Anti-Smuggling Operation.

Misuse of City Funds Investigation

The investigation began after municipal workers flagged unusual transactions involving public funds, immediately notifying management and the city's legal team. According to Fox 5 Atlanta, Williams was accused of using his city purchasing card for more than USD 4,000 in personal expenses, which included restaurant meals, clothing, haircuts, and a movie. He also reportedly spent USD 2,600 on gas and used a city vehicle for personal travel.

During testimony, Williams stated he did not intend to use city funds and subsequently repaid the money. He claimed the city-issued card closely resembled his personal card and noted that he later replaced the cards to prevent future mix-ups.

Ethical Concerns Over Messaging and Mentorship

Separately, Williams faced scrutiny after being accused of exchanging s*xually suggestive messages and explicit images with an 18-year-old male high school student. A police report confirmed that no criminal violations occurred because the student was an adult under Georgia law. However, law enforcement referred the matter for administrative review due to ethical concerns regarding an elected official’s interactions with a student involved in what investigators described as a city-affiliated mentorship program.

Williams previously defended the communication in a statement, clarifying that he met the individual before taking office and that the student never participated in the city’s "Mayor for a Da"  program, which he characterised as a non-mentorship initiative. "The individual was 18 years old at the time of our communication, meaning we were both adults. I met this individual on November 30, 2025, and our online communication occurred before I was sworn into office in January 2026,” Williams stated. Oracle Layoffs: Know Severance Package Being Offered to Departing US Staff.

Background and Political Fallout

Williams made history by becoming the youngest mayor in Georgia after campaigning for the seat while attending Clark Atlanta University. As investigations into his conduct progressed, he was stripped of certain official privileges on July 17. Although he was never criminally charged in connection with the allegations, the mounting administrative pressure culminated in his formal impeachment by the City Council.
