Kabul, May 24: A bomb blast was reported at a mosque  in the Afghan capital on Friday. According to a tweet by ANI, the explosion took place while people gathered to offer Friday prayers. The cleric of the mosque was killed in the blast while nine other people were critically injured. Reports inform that the blast took place in Paktia Kot area in Kabul's PD9 on Friday. The imam of the mosque, who was killed in the explosion has been identified as Mawlawi Samiullah Raihan. Afghanistan: Massive Truck Bomb Blast in Kabul Kills 4, Injures 90.

According to details by Interior ministry, the bomb exploded in a mosque in the Afghan capital during Friday prayers, killing at least one person and wounding 16 people. According to the police, the nature of the bombing was not know. Ambulance services were rushed to the blast site.

In March this year, at least six people were killed by blasts in Kabul during Persian New Year celebrations in a Shiite area of the Afghan capital, authorities said, in the latest violence to hit the war-torn city.
