Islamabad, October 7: In a shocking incident, a final year engineering student in Faisalabad has committed suicide after a teacher repeatedly failed him in a course due to âpersonal grudgeâ. According to a report published in Pakistan Today, Saifullah Jamali, a student of chemical engineering at the Institute of Engineering and Fertilizer Research (IEFR), shot himself in front of Faisalabad University gate on Thursday. The victimâs family and friends held the university responsible for the death. They alleged that the administration bullied Saifullah. The victimâs cousin, Noor Ahmed Jamali requested all students of the university and journalists to raise voice against the wrong done to Saifullah. He tweeted, âSaifullah Jamali committed suicide due to a teacher, who often used to disrespect him and repeatedly failed him. However, university officials refuted the allegations of the victimâs family and friends. They claimed that, Saifullah committed suicide due to low CGPA and subsequent expulsion. After Saifullahâs death, the university on its Facebook page wrote, âPlease donât choose this act; itâs anti-Islam.â According to the report, in his suicide note, Saifullah requested the authorities not to investigate his death. He also wrote that he was committing the suicide not under any pressure or depression and asked the family not to allow authorities to touch his body. He also apologised to his parents and teachers.
