Islamabad, August 18:  Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and cricketer-turned-politician and Imran Khan will be sworn-in as the 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan at the President House on Saturday. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the President’s House in Islamabad, Pakistan News Agency Dawn reported. Imran Khan, 65, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), secured 176 votes while his only rival and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz chief Sharif got 96 votes.

Former Indian cricketer and Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu arrived in Pakistan on Friday to attend the oath-taking ceremony of his cricketer friend Imran Khan and said he was going to the other side of the border as a 'goodwill ambassador.'

“These moments of democratic change in Pakistan are very important. I feel lucky that Imran Khan, being a friend, invited me. It is an honour for me. I am going to Pakistan as a goodwill ambassador. I am going there with the hope that relations between our two nations will improve,” Sidhu told media at the Attari-Wagah border.

In the recently held general elections, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had emerged as the single largest party with 116 seats. The number increased to 158 in the NA after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued notifications of the successful candidates on the reserved seats for women and the minority community on August 11.
