The warning was delivered by Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, in a statement posted to X. Rezaei emphasized that continued financial and trade pressure from Washington could lead to a complete disruption of oil shipments from the region.
"If the economic war continues, not a single drop of oil will be exported, neither through the Strait of Hormuz nor from anywhere in the Persian Gulf," Rezaei stated. He added that Tehran would hold international partners accountable if they assist in US economic measures directed at the Iranian economy. Iranian Officials Dismiss US Pressure as Strategic Failure
Rezaei's remarks come as top figures across Iran's political and military institutions push back against recent economic declarations from US President Donald Trump.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, mocked Washington's reliance on economic sanctions. Commenting on the strategy, Ghalibaf suggested that aggressive interventions backfire on their originators, comparing the dynamic to a boomerang returning to strike the thrower.
Concurrently, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Spokesperson Sardar Mohebi framed the imposition of harsher trade constraints as an implicit acknowledgment of Washington's inability to achieve its goals military-wise. Mohebi noted that Iran has adapted to economic sanctions over several decades and maintained that Tehran has the necessary mechanisms to stabilize its trade relationships despite external restrictions.
