Tehran, January 14: In a tragic incident, a Boeing 707 Kyrgyz cargo plane crashed on Monday near Iran's Fath airport, west of the capital, Tehran. According to reports, 15 crew members onboard feared killed. Fath airport is near Karaj in the central province of Alborz. Iranian media showed pictures of smoke rising from the crash site. A rescue team has reached the spot. However, the main reason for the crash has not been ascertained yet. Meanwhile, local media reported that the pilot had mistakenly landed at Karaj, before losing control of the aircraft. One person who reported to be survived in the crash is in a critical condition. More details are still awaited. Meanwhile, authorities have started investigating into the crash.
Last year in February, Aseman Airlines flight 3705, en route from Tehran to the southern city of Yasuj had crashed killing all passengers and crew onboard. A total of 66 people were reported dead in that crash. The Iranian commercial plane went off radar 50 minutes into its journey.
