Jakarta [Indonesia], August 27 (ANI): Former world number one, Saina Nehwal on Monday bagged a bronze medal in Badminton Women's Singles as she lost to Chinese Taipei player Tai Tzu Ying in the semi-final of the event at the ongoing 18th edition of the Asian Games.

The 28-year-old shuttler was handed over a 17-21, 14-21 straight-games defeat by Tzu Ying in the semi-final clash which lasted 36 minutes.

Nehwal, earlier, defeated Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand 21-18, 21-16 in the quarter-final to book a semi-final berth for herself.

Later in the day, ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu will take on Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in the quarter-final clash of Women's Singles event.

India's total medal tally at the prestigious tournament now stands at 37 with seven gold, ten silver, and twenty bronze. (ANI)
