India News | 254 Foreign Nationals Arrested in NCR Drug Trafficking Cases Since 2024: Union MoS Nityanand Rai Tells Lok Sabha

New Delhi [India], August 5 (ANI): A total of 254 foreign nationals residing in the National Capital Region (NCR) have been arrested in cases related to the illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs during the period from 2024 to June 30 this year (2026), Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said in a written reply to Lok Sabha.

Rai was responding to multiple questions raised by Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, who won the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the South Delhi constituency on a BJP ticket.

Responding to the query, MoS Rai said that, as reported by the Delhi Police, "254 foreign nationals residing in the National Capital Region" were arrested in cases related to illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs "during the period from 2024 to 2026 (up to June 30, 2026)".

The written reply added that details of foreign nationals, including those of Nigerian origin apprehended in different areas of Delhi--Khanpur Extension, Deoli, Sangam Vihar, Mehrauli, Hauz Rani, Uttam Nagar and adjoining areas in West Delhi--along with "the narcotic drugs seized from them and their estimated value, are provided in Annexure A".

"During the period of the year 2024 to 2026 (up to June 30, 2026), 103 foreign nationals were found residing in rented accommodation without the mandatory tenant verification by their landlords," Nityanand Rai stated while responding to a query about tenant verification.

The reply further stated that the Delhi Police has taken action against 63 landlords in this regard.

It added that verification of tenants by police, including those of foreign nationals residing in Delhi, is an ongoing process and is carried out by the Delhi Police on a regular basis to maintain security and law enforcement in the metropolitan city.

The monsoon session of Parliament began on July 20 and will conclude on August 13. (ANI)
