India News | All-party Meeting Begins Ahead of Parliament's Monsoon Session

New Delhi [India], July 19 (ANI): The all-party meeting convened by the government on Sunday ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament has begun.

The government is expected to outline its legislative agenda during the meeting.

Opposition leaders indicated they would raise a host of issues, including the alleged Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust donation scam, exam paper leaks, delimitation, and the role of the Lok Sabha Speaker.

Speaking to reporters on the issues the Congress plans to raise during the session, Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Tiwari alleged that the BJP had "betrayed Lord Ram" and accused the government of failing to safeguard public trust.

"BJP and its government has betrayed Lord Ram. They didn't just steal the donations; they committed dacoity against the people's faith. That is why this is the primary issue we are raising. We have highlighted the NEET scandal and the fact that question papers for over 70 exams have been leaked. These situations are being created deliberately... They are mixing ethanol into petrol, and this ethanol is damaging the engines. It is a massive conspiracy designed to let a select few make money. Similarly, there are land scams... the BJP has betrayed Lord Ram. We will raise this issue first and foremost," Tiwari said.

He also asserted, "BJP or the NDA government never had, does not have, and will not have a two-third majority."

Trinamool Congress (TMC) rebel MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay attended the meeting as the leader of Nationalist Citizen Party of India (NCPI).

"I am attending today as a leader of NCPI-Nationalist Citizen Party of India. Because in the last 15 years, only I was the leader of Trinamool Congress parliamentary party. Today I will represent a new party. But the policy of the new party equally stands...that the House belongs to the opposition. This idea should be allowed to be reflected... Let the House run and equally, we are the firm believers of the principle of secularism, communal harmony and unity of the country. We are not ditching from this line that I will reflect in the meeting and will establish it. We are completely secular by nature," he said.

Responding to TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee's challenge to rebel legislators to return to the party and he will resign from his post, Bandyopadhyay said, "He has appealed individually. MPs or MLAs will take their own decision."

The meeting was addressed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. (ANI)
