New Delhi [India], May 9 (ANI): Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge is scheduled to visit Uttar Pradesh on May 14 in the run-up to the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

During his visit, the Congress chief will address a public rally in Maharajganj Lok Sabha constituency in support of party candidate Virendra Choudhary.

Kharge will also campaign for party's candidate in Bansgaon Lok Sabha seat, Sadal Prasad. The Congress chief will hold a public meeting in the constituency.

Uttar Pradesh that sends the most number of members to the Lower House, has 80 seats. The voting in the state is held in seven phases.

The polling in 26 seats have been completed in the first three phases. The remaining seats will vote on May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1. The counting of votes will be held on June 4.

In 2019 polls, the BJP emerged triumphant, securing 62 out of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh, while two seats were clinched by its ally Apna Dal (S). Mayawati's BSP managed to secure 10 seats, while Akhilesh Yadav's SP garnered five and the Congress Party secured only one seat. (ANI)
