Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], August 22 (ANI): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday conducted searches at two locations in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir as part of an ongoing investigation in a case, officials said.

The searches were carried out in Bijbehara and Dooru areas of south Kashmir, with NIA teams accompanied by personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jammu and Kashmir Police.

According to officials, an NIA team conducted a search at the SICOP area in Bijbehara, while another team carried out a search at Kreeri village in the Dooru area.

Further details regarding the nature of the case, the purpose of the searches and any recoveries made during the operation are awaited.

The latest operation comes amid continued investigations by security agencies into cases linked to terrorism and unlawful activities in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a separate development earlier this month, Sopore Police conducted coordinated searches at 26 locations across Police District Sopore in connection with an ongoing investigation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) involving the proscribed Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI).

The searches were conducted at residential and other premises linked to JeI leaders, members and activists. Police said incriminating documents, literature and electronic devices were recovered and seized from various locations.

The seized material is being examined as part of the investigation to establish further linkages and activities associated with the proscribed organisation.

Meanwhile, Baramulla Police recently secured an attachment order from the NIA Court, Sopore, in a case registered at Police Station Chandoosa under the provisions of the Egress and Internal Movement (Control) Ordinance, 2005, the Ranbir Penal Code and the UAPA.

The attachment order pertains to 12 Kanal 01 Marla and 73 square feet of land belonging to accused Parvaiz Ahmad Famda of Kawhar Bala, Chandoosa. The property has been valued at Rs 69,82,550.

In the same case, Baramulla Police also obtained an arrest warrant from the NIA Court, Sopore, against another accused, Abdul Rashid Bhat of Rajpora, Chandoosa. (ANI)
