Tirupattur (Tamil Nadu) [India], April 1 (ANI): Ahead of the upcoming assembly polls, Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Wednesday announced Rs 8,000 coupons provided to people to enable the purchasing of household items such as televisions and refrigerators.
The Deputy CM said that laptops have already been provided to 10 lakh college students.
"Coupons worth Rs 8000 would be provided, enabling people to purchase essential household items such as TVs, refrigerators, and washing machines. While laptops were earlier distributed to school students, under the Dravidian model government, laptops have been provided to 10 lakh college students," Udhayanidhi said.
Earlier in the day, he took part in a vote canvassing campaign at the Natrampalli bus stand in support of Tirupattur assembly candidate Nallathambi and Jolarpet assembly candidate Kavitha Dhandapani.

During his address to the public, he criticised AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, stating that he should be defeated across all constituencies.
Highlighting the DMK's election promises, he said that the women's entitlement scheme providing ₹1000 is already being implemented, and it will be increased to ₹2000 if the party returns to power.
He further stated that the breakfast scheme for school children from Classes 1 to 5 is currently in place, and it will be extended up to Class 8 if the DMK forms the government again.
Additionally, he announced that coupons worth ₹8000 would be provided, enabling people to purchase essential household items such as TVs, refrigerators, and washing machines.
Responding to opposition criticism, he said that while laptops were earlier distributed to school students, under the Dravidian model government, laptops have been provided to 10 lakh college students.
He concluded by urging voters to ensure a massive victory for DMK candidates Nallathambi (Tirupattur) and Kavitha Dhandapani (Jolarpet), contesting under the Rising Sun symbol. He appealed for support, stating that he was asking as the son of the current Chief Minister and the grandson of a former Chief Minister.
Tamil Nadu will go to the polls in a single phase on April 23, covering a total of 234 constituencies in the State. Counting of votes is scheduled for May 4. (ANI)
