Kurukshetra, May 2 (PTI) The INLD's recent alliance with the BSP will help lay the foundation for the third front in the country and Mayawati would be the next prime minister, senior INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala said.

BSP supremo Mayawati will be entrusted with the responsibility of forging a third alternative front, which will have parties other than the BJP and the Congress on board, the INLD leader told reporters here.

Chautala, who is also the Leader of the Opposition in the Haryana Assembly, said both the parties have agreed that the country needs to be rid of both the BJP and the Congress.

He said INLD and BSP were determined to champion the cause of the Dalits, farmers and the labour classes.

After forging an alliance recently, the INLD and the BSP held a joint meeting of their working committees in Kurukeshtra today.

The joint meeting resolved to adopt five resolutions concerning immediate challenges facing the state.

Members from the parties expressed anguish at the destruction of approximately 3,000 acres of wheat because of recent sporadic fires and demanded that the government pay compensation at the rate of Rs 45,000 per acre.

They also expressed grave concern over alleged deteriorating law and order in the state, saying "it has assumed alarming proportions since more and more women, particularly Dalits, and children are becoming victims of the emboldened criminals in the wake of ineffective policing and weak leadership."

Another resolution concerned rising prices and also condemned the government for the high rate of central and state tax on petroleum products.
