Amritsar (Pb), Sep 20 (PTI) Former Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai paid obeisance at the Golden Temple on Thursday evening, amid tight security arrangements.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee honoured Harzai with a set of Sikh religious books, shawl and replica of the Golden Temple at the Information Centre here.
Speaking to mediapersons, Karzai said Hindu and Sikh communities in Afghanistan were largely involved in trade and business-related activities.
On his visit here, the former Afghanistan president said it was his wish to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple.
Karzai also called on Amarinder Singh Thursday at the Punjab chief minister's official residence. During the meeting, Singh assured Karzai of greater strategic support and cooperation to the war-torn nation.
