Maha Govt Appointees Must Join Within 30 Days
A candidate selected for a state government job in Maharashtra will now have to join the duty within 30 days from the date of his selection, the government said today.
Mumbai, May 29 (PTI) A candidate selected for a state government job in Maharashtra will now have to join the duty within 30 days from the date of his selection, the government said today.
"It is mandatory for the selected candidate to join duty within 30 days from the date of selection. In a rare case, the candidate can request for another one month time to join the duty," a Government Resolution (GR) said.
"If the selected candidate fail to join the duty, the selection will be (declared) void and first candidate in the waiting list will get the chance to join the duty. The first candidate cannot be considered for the same post based on his or her earlier selection," the GR stated.
Earlier, there was no clarity in the Maharashtra Civil Services Seniority Rules, 1982, which was misused by some candidates to delay the joining.
"There have been several cases wherein candidates got selected through a direct recruitment procedure, but did not join the duty. Some candidates had taken more than a year to join," a General Administration Department official said.
"It used to create a problem for the government, as it could not hire anyone else on the same post because the candidate is already selected. At the same time, there is no one to work because the selected candidate has not joined the duty. Now, there will be a check on such misuse," the official said.
