Madrid [Spain], Oct 1 (ANI/Sputnik): A Spanish maritime rescue team said on Monday that it had detected 672 migrants in the Alboran Sea, the westernmost part of the Mediterranean Sea, over the weekend.
The Spanish rescue service on Saturday spotted seven boats with 342 people on board. On Sunday, it found seven boats carrying 318 migrants. Another boat with 12 people was detected off Cape Palos, which is in the Spanish municipality of Cartagena, the rescue team said.
According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), as of September 23, a total of 35,653 migrants have arrived in Spain this year. (ANI/Sputnik)
