The four accused have been identified as Raman Saini, 50; Vivekanand alias Vivek, 32; Kapil Kumar, 27; and Ravinder Singh alias Govind Hindu, 35.

According to a senior police official quoted by The Indian Express, the accused claimed to be members of the right-wing Hindu Raksha Dal.

What Does the Viral Video Show?

The video, which circulated widely on social media on October 10, allegedly shows a group of men assaulting young students and pushing and hitting women on DDU Marg. A police officer is also reportedly visible at the scene.

The footage was shared by several social media accounts, including those associated with the Cockroach Janta Party, the Indian Youth Congress and the All India Students' Association (AISA).

The CJP alleged in its social media post that a woman protester was beaten in the presence of Delhi Police personnel. The allegations surrounding the incident prompted calls for accountability, although the claims made in the posts should be distinguished from independently established facts.

CJP Protest in Delhi Over Chief Election Commissioner

The alleged assault took place amid heightened tensions in Delhi during the CJP's proposed protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The party had planned a demonstration at Jantar Mantar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and demanded the CEC's resignation. Delhi Police had imposed restrictions and prevented protesters from reaching the designated protest site.

The October 10 crackdown resulted in the detention of thousands of people, including political leaders, activists and YouTuber Dhruv Rathee. Several CJP leaders were also detained ahead of the planned demonstration.

Police Investigation Into Alleged Assault Continues

The arrests mark police action in the case despite the absence of a formal complaint at the time of the reported communication. Further legal action was expected to follow as required, according to the police account cited by The Times of India. The allegations concerning the assault, the role of those seen in the video and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain subject to investigation.
