Bhubaneswar, Jul 29 (PTI) At least two persons were missing after a truck broke the railing of a bridge and fell into the swelling Mahanadi river in Odisha's Jagatsinghpur district today, police said.
The accident took place when the truck which was on its way to Chandikhole from Paradip hit the left side railing of the bridge, broke it and fell into the water.
The rescue teams comprising personnel of fire service and Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force were engaged in tracing the missing persons - the driver and helper of the truck.
Till the evening, the search team did not find the missing persons and the vehicle, police said.
While the driver of the truck was identified as Ajit Mandal of Udayabat area in Paradip, the identity of the helper was yet to be ascertained.
