New Delhi [India], July 26 (ANI): The sub-divisional magistrate of Delhi's Preet Vihar area said two separate inquiries have been initiated to probe the death of three sisters in East Delhi.

"We are doing a separate enquiry on the incident apart from the police. Reports of the second post-mortem are yet to come. Last rites have been performed," Preet Vihar SDM Arun Gupta told ANI.

The initial post-mortem examination report indicated that the girls, aged two, four and eight, died of starvation.

Police were reportedly treating it as a case of natural deaths initially, but the recovery of pills and medicine bottles prompted them to look into the poisoning angle.

The girls, who were brought to the hospital by a member of the family, were declared dead on arrival. (ANI)
