Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter To Be Launched in India on January 14; Expected Price, Bookings, Features & Specifications

Bajaj, the homegrown two-wheeler manufacturer, reintroduced the iconic 'Chetak' nameplate by unveiling the scooter last year. Now, the company has finally revealed the launch date for the new electric scooter. As per the media invites sent out bu the manufacturer, the Chetak electric scooter will be launched in India on January 14, 2020. As promised by the manufacturer, the new Chetak electric scooter will carry aggressive pricing, which is likely to fall somewhere around Rs 1.2 lakh (ex-showroom). Moreover, Bajaj will be commencing the sales for the new Chetak initially in Pune followed by other cities. We already know that the company will not be offering any branding on the Chetak and it will be retailed exclusively via KTM dealerships across India. The scooter initially will be available in five Indian cities - Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai.

Bajaj Chetak bookings will start immediately after the India launch, which is scheduled for next week. The scooter will be equipped with a 4kW electric motor with power coming out from a lithium-ion battery. The company claims that the scooter will offer a range of 95km on a single charge in the Eco mode. However, the Sport mode will bring a range of 85km.

On the specification front, the company is yet to reveal the exact details of the battery and electric motor equipped on the Chetak Electric. As per the company, the new Bajaj Chetak scooter is developed with modern-day riding requirements.

Though the scooter takes massive inspiration from the Italian retro scooters with a similar design, the company has managed to give it a modern appeal. It gets an all-metal body, illuminated switchgear, LED lights, digital console, side-stand indicator, alloy wheels, disc brakes and much more. When launched, the electric version of Bajaj Chetak will take on Okinawa Praise, Ather 450 and upcoming Ather 450X.
