New Delhi, July 21: Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Automobile and Auto Component Industry (PLI‑Auto), has attracted Rs 44,326 crore of investment and generated 67,820 jobs as of March-end, the government said on Tuesday.  The scheme’s implementation also saw incentive disbursements of Rs 2,386.36 crore up to March 31, 2026, MoS Heavy Industries, Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma said in the Lok Sabha Government approved the scheme with a budgetary outlay of Rs 25,938 crore for enhancing India’s manufacturing capabilities for Advanced Automotive Products (AAT) on September 23, 2021.

PLI Auto is a pan-India scheme and approved applicants are free to set up units anywhere in the country. Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme on “National Programme on Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Battery Storage”, was approved in May 2021, with an outlay of Rs 18,100 Crore for 50 GWh capacity. Till date, no beneficiary firm has claimed any incentive under the PLI ACC scheme, the minister said. The list of manufacturing units set up under PLI‑Auto showed that Maharashtra led with 66 units, followed by Tamil Nadu with 38, Haryana 35, Karnataka 28 and Uttar Pradesh 13, with all states and union territories totalling 225 units. MoS for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada said the PLI schemes were launched with an approved financial outlay of Rs 1.91 lakh crore. Exports under the PLI programme have risen sharply over the last three years, increasing from Rs 4 lakh crore in FY24 to Rs 6.5 lakh crore in FY25 and further to Rs 15.2 lakh crore in FY26.
