Police said Vishal told investigators that Subrat had allegedly asked him to kill his father and had offered ₹6 lakh for the murder. Vishal also allegedly claimed that Subrat instructed him to name his wife, Shalu Manocha, if he was caught. However, police said Subrat has not confessed to the murder. New SIM and Calls Under Scanner
A key part of the investigation is Vishal's use of a new SIM card shortly before the murder. Police said he obtained the SIM on September 3, two days before Vineet was killed, and made his first call from the number to Subrat. Investigators had earlier found extensive communication between Subrat and Vishal. Police examined call detail records from seven mobile numbers linked to Subrat, Shalu and Vishal as they tried to establish the sequence of events surrounding the murder.

Vineet Manocha, a 60-year-old pharmaceutical trader, was stabbed to death at his apartment in Ratan Orbit, Kalyanpur, in the early hours of September 5. Police arrested Shalu and alleged contract killers Vishal Gautam and Rajkishore the following day. The investigation initially focused on Shalu, with police alleging that she had helped plan the murder and arranged for the alleged attackers to enter the apartment. Shalu has denied involvement.
During the latest questioning, police confronted Subrat, Shalu and Vishal in several rounds. Police said Shalu allegedly broke down during one confrontation and claimed she had been implicated to protect Subrat. Investigators are continuing to verify the competing allegations. Police Examine Financial and Property Angles
Investigators have also examined Vineet's property and financial affairs. Police previously said his 2022 will named his wife, son and daughter as beneficiaries while excluding Shalu, and officers were checking whether the distribution of his assets had any connection to the alleged murder plot. Police have also examined Subrat's financial liabilities and his communications with Vishal as part of the investigation.
The latest arrest marks a significant development in the case, but police have said the allegations against Subrat are being corroborated with documentary, digital and circumstantial evidence as the investigation continues.
