Amazon India To Invest Over INR 2,800 Crore To Boost Logistics and Quick Commerce Operations in Country
Amazon India will invest over INR 2,800 crore (USD 300 million) to scale its logistics and "Amazon Now" quick commerce network while enhancing associate safety and wellbeing. The investment builds on previous 2025 outlays and supports Amazon's goal of investing USD 35 billion in India by 2030.
Amazon India has announced a fresh investment of more than INR 2,800 crore (approximately USD 300 million) to expand its logistics infrastructure and accelerate its quick commerce operations. The capital infusion is part of the company’s broader commitment to invest USD 35 billion in India by 2030, with a strategic focus on business expansion, artificial intelligence (AI) integration, and job creation.
The move signals a heightened competition in India’s rapid-delivery market as Amazon aims to scale its "Amazon Now" vertical. Abhinav Singh, Vice President of Operations for Amazon India and Australia, stated that the investment would further strengthen the company’s ability to deliver to customers "in minutes, hours, and days" while advancing the technology that ensures safety and reliability. Amazon Aggressive Push into Quick Commerce
A significant portion of the new funding is earmarked for "Amazon Now," the company’s quick commerce wing launched in 2025. Amazon plans to more than double its footprint in existing cities while expanding into new markets. Currently, the service operates out of over 300 micro-fulfilment centres across key metropolitan areas, including Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, and Mumbai.
This push into ultra-fast delivery comes as Amazon strengthens its pan-India network of warehouses, sortation hubs, and last-mile delivery stations. The company is particularly targeting tier 2 and tier 3 cities to improve delivery speeds and increase capacity for small business sellers across the country.
Amazon Enhancing Worker Safety and Health Benefits
The investment also prioritises the wellbeing of Amazon’s extensive delivery and warehouse associate network. The company is expanding "Project Ashray," a series of air-conditioned rest stops for delivery partners. These facilities—currently serving over 150,000 workers monthly—provide comfortable seating, drinking water, first-aid support, and mobile charging points.
Furthermore, Amazon is scaling its "Sushruta" health programme, which focuses on the medical needs of long-haul truck drivers and their families. The company plans to enhance medical and accident insurance coverage and facilitate access to government-backed social security schemes, such as Ayushman Bharat and Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, through its "Samriddhi" initiative.
Amazon AI-Driven Logistics and On-Road Safety
Amazon is deploying advanced AI and machine-learning tools to optimize its operations. These technologies are being used for complex route planning and more equitable workload distribution among drivers. To improve on-road safety, the company has integrated AI models that provide real-time alerts for unsafe driving behaviour and prompts for mandatory rest breaks.
These technological upgrades build upon an INR 2,000 crore outlay from June 2025, which saw the launch of 17 new fulfilment centres and 75 last-mile delivery stations. By refining its tech backbone, Amazon aims to tighten its logistics chain to compete more effectively with specialized quick commerce rivals.
The INR 2,800 crore infusion is a component of Amazon’s 2030 vision, which seeks to support 3.8 million direct and indirect jobs in India. The company also aims to enable USD 80 billion in cumulative e-commerce exports and digitise 15 million small businesses by the end of the decade. Amazon India Will Invest Over INR 2,000 Crore in 2025 To Expand Operations Infrastructure, Improve Associate Safety and Well-Being Programmes.
By integrating physical infrastructure with digital innovation, Amazon is positioning itself as a central pillar of India’s digital transformation. The company recently reported that its marketplace arm, Amazon Seller Services, saw a 19% revenue increase in FY25, highlighting the robust growth of the Indian e-commerce landscape.
