Electric vehicle (EV) rental and last-mile logistics platform Zypp Electric has announced the expansion of its employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) pool, granting options worth INR 11 crore to over 250 employees. The latest allocation covers roughly 22 per cent of the company's workforce across multiple operational tiers and corporate functions, including more than 50 EV technicians. The move comes as the firm scales its operations and builds momentum toward a future initial public offering (IPO).

Strengthening Ownership Culture

Co-founder and CEO Akash Gupta emphasised that the stock option pool is designed to build a genuine stake in the company's growth rather than function strictly as a standard retention tool, reports PTI. BMW Layoffs: Why the Automaker Is Cutting 20% of Senior Management Roles Using AI.

"For us, ESOPs are fundamentally about creating ownership, not just retaining employees. As we enter our next phase of growth, we want more of our people to participate in the value they are helping create. Extending ESOPs across employee bands, including our EV technicians and field sales teams, reflects our belief that ownership should be shared across the organisation," said Akash Gupta, Co-Founder & CEO, Zypp Electric.

The current broad-based distribution follows an earlier ESOP buyback conducted by the firm in 2023, which provided approximately INR 1.5 crore in liquidity to 15 employees against a portion of their vested options.

Robust Financials and Expansion Targets

The equity expansion coincides with accelerated operational metrics and improved financial performance across the board. Zypp reported an 88 per cent year-on-year growth in net revenue during the first quarter of the fiscal year. The company's EBITDA margin shifted positively from a negative 4 per cent to 10 per cent year-on-year, and has since climbed to 17 per cent over the preceding 12 months. Concurrently, its utilisable fleet expanded by 71 per cent year-on-year to 30,000 vehicles during the April–June period. Honda Elevate Facelift Bookings Opens; Check Amount, Specifications, Features and Price.

Operating across eight cities, Zypp maintains a long-term goal of scaling its active fleet to 1,00,000 electric vehicles spanning 20 cities by FY28, driven by consistent corporate demand across e-commerce, quick commerce, food, grocery, and pharmacy delivery networks.
