64th Filmfare Awards 2019 Best Actress Award: Alia Bhatt Wins the Popular Award for Raazi, Neena Gupta Wins for Critics’ Choice

Okay, we expected this one, didn't we? At the 64th Filmfare Awards, Alia Bhatt took away the Best Actress award for Raazi (Popular Category). Neena Gupta won the same award for the Critics' Choice, for her performance in Badhaai Ho. The other actresses nominated in the Popular category were Deepika Padukone for Padmaavat, Rani Mukerji for Hichki, and Tabu for Andhadhun. In the Critics' Category, Anushka Sharma (Sui Dhaaga: Made In India), Alia Bhatt (Raazi), Radhika Madan (Pataakha), Tabu (Andhadhun) and Taapsee Pannu (Mulk) were the fellow nominees. Filmfare Awards 2019 Best Supporting Actor Award: Vicky Kaushal and Gajraj Rao Share the Honour for Sanju and Badhaai Ho Respectively.

Interestingly both Raazi and Badhaai Ho were produced by Junglee Pictures, which is owned by Times Group. And if you are not aware of this, even Filmfare Awards are presented by the Times Group. Not that we are claiming there is any link between the winners and the connection between the production house and the award show.

There is no doubt that both Alia and Neena were too good in their movies. Alia Bhatt had played an Indian spy married to a Pakistani army officer in Raazi, that is based on the book, Calling Sehmat. The film was directed by Meghna Gulzar and co-produced by Karan Johar. 64th Filmfare Awards 2019 Best Supporting Actress Award: Surekha Sikri Beats Katrina Kaif, Swara Bhasker to Win Trophy for Badhaai Ho

Meanwhile, Neena Gupta played a housewife in Badhaai Ho, who and her husband (Gajraj Rao) realise that they are expecting a baby, even though they have grown up kids.
