For long, we have been hearing that the sequel to the 2002 hit thriller, Aankhen, is on the way. If you remember, the first movie, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and Arjun Rampal, ended on a cliffhanger. However, as per certain reports, the sequel will tell a different story itself, with Akshay Kumar and the director (Vipul Shah) not returning. Now it looks even the producer Gaurang Doshi, who wanted to launch the sequel for long, is also out of the project as per a report in DNA.

He has been evicted from Aankhen 2, thanks to a long-standing legal battle over the rights, and producer RajTaru Studios are looking to produce the film. Moreover, even the cast that was once signed to be a part of the project, has bee replaced, with only Big B being retained. The new actors being eyed by the makers are Sushant Singh Rajput and Kartik Aaryan. A source close to the project told the publication, "Talks with Sushant Singh Rajput and Kartik Aaryan are in the final stages. The rest of the names will be in place soon as well."

Earlier, Aankhen 2 was launched in a grand manner back in 2016 with an impressive starcast that included Anil Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Arshad Warsi and Tamil actress Regina Cassandra, apart from Mr Bachchan. Then the legal battle happened where Doshi was told by the High Court not to mention anywhere that he had any rights to make the sequel.

But even with this new development, we feel Aankhen 2 is going to be a dead sequel, just like Hera Pheri 3.
