The three new designated protest venues are Ramlila Ground, Burari Ground and CBD Ground in east Delhi. Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar issued the order denotifying Jantar Mantar as an authorised protest venue and designating the three new locations for organising protests and demonstrations.
According to the police order, the decision was taken based on the committee's recommendations. The police also said that separate standard operating procedures (SOPs) for holding protests and demonstrations at the newly designated sites would be issued later. Why Has Jantar Mantar Been Removed as a Protest Site?
Jantar Mantar, located in the high-security central Delhi area near several important government buildings, has been a prominent venue for political demonstrations, public movements and sit-ins.
