Vicky Kaushal and Laxman Utekar Join Hands for ‘Chhaava 2’?

According to a recent report by The Times of India, the duo is currently in the early planning stages for the sequel. The first film, which chronicled the fierce resistance of Sambhaji Maharaj against the Mughal Empire, resonated deeply with audiences, reportedly earning over INR 800 crore worldwide.

A source close to the development shared details with ETimes, stating, "While Chhaava was based on the life of Sambhaji Maharaj, this one is going to be based on his son, Shahu Maharaj. Vicky is apparently interested in collaborating with Utekar for this project, which is currently in the planning stages."

‘Chhaava 2’ Production Timeline

While fans are eager for the next chapter, the project is not expected to hit floors immediately. Director Laxman Utekar is currently occupied with Eetha, featuring Shraddha Kapoor. Once he wraps up his current directorial duties, he is expected to shift his focus toward the script and pre-production of the Chhaava sequel.

Industry insiders suggest that the film is likely to go into production by late 2027 or early 2028. This timeline aligns with Vicky Kaushal’s packed schedule, as the actor is currently filming Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War and is slated to begin work on Mahavatar, where he portrays Lord Parshuram.
