New Delhi, October 12: The Delhi Police has registered an FIR following a complaint by the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders and MLAs, including Arvind Kejriwal, over an alleged disruption at Gurudwara Bangla Sahib in the national capital. The complaint also alleges the circulation of misleading videos and social media posts following the incident. Police said the video footage submitted with the complaint is being examined as part of the investigation.

The development comes after AAP on Sunday condemned the alleged entry of Delhi Police personnel into Gurudwara Bangla Sahib during a protest on Saturday, October 10. The party accused the police of violating the sanctity of the Sikh shrine and demanded accountability for the alleged incident. Arvind Kejriwal Detained in Delhi During Protests Demanding Resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar (Video).

AAP Demands Amit Shah's Resignation

AAP demanded the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the immediate release of protesters detained during Saturday's demonstration and strict action against police personnel allegedly involved in violating the gurdwara's 'maryada'.

AAP MLA and chief spokesperson Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal alleged that the incident had hurt Sikh sentiments. He drew parallels with Operation Bluestar and the events of 1984, saying the Sikh community had not forgotten those painful memories. Arvind Kejriwal To Join CJP Protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar Against SIR, CEC Gyanesh Kumar.

Dhaliwal also accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of hypocrisy over its criticism of the Congress for the 1984 anti-Sikh violence. He called on Amit Shah to accept responsibility for the police action and resign from his post. He also appealed to the Akal Takht jathedar and Sikh organisations to take up the matter.

AAP MLAs Question Police Action

AAP MLA Baljinder Kaur described October 10 as a 'black day' and alleged that people were detained indiscriminately. She further claimed that metro services, buses and traffic were disrupted to prevent protesters from reaching their destination.

Kaur expressed concern over videos purportedly showing uniformed police personnel entering Gurudwara Bangla Sahib with their shoes on and heads uncovered, as well as forcibly removing people from the gurdwara's 'sarai', which provides accommodation to visitors.

She also questioned the silence of Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Harjinder Singh Dhami, urging Sikh religious authorities to demand accountability.

Another AAP MLA, Manvinder Singh Giaspura, said the alleged conduct of police personnel inside the shrine was unacceptable. He highlighted Gurudwara Bangla Sahib's historical association with Guru Harkrishan Sahib, who served the poor and needy during an epidemic in 1664.

The police investigation is ongoing, with the submitted video footage being examined as part of the probe.
