Dimple Kapadia has been of the most talented and stylish actresses of her time. Even today, the 61-year-old can easily make heads turn with her beauty. The biggest news of the hour has been that the Bobby actress has bagged a part in Hollywood's legendary director, Christopher Nolan's next film titled Tenet. The film will be an action epic with a stellar cast of John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Kenneth Branagh and Michael Caine. While Indian fans of Nolan and also Kapadia's fans are thrilled to hear this news, we think it should be no surprise that the actress was chosen for this project. Since early on, Dimple has been promising since the start and in her career spanning several years, has given some amazingly versatile performances.

For the uninitiated, Dimple Kapadia started her career with the iconic Raj Kapoor film, Bobby, when she was just 16 and surprised everyone with her terrific performance. After taking a break from cinema after her marriage to Rajesh Khanna and the birth of her two daughters, Twinkle and Rinkie Khanna, Kapadia made a comeback in 1984 with Saagar and after that there was no looking back.

Dimple Kapadia evolved as an actress with time and has even starred in some unconventional films such as Being Cyrus and Finding Fanny much later in her career.

Here's looking at some of her best performances:

1. Bobby

We can't think of a stronger debut that what Dimple Kapadia did with Bobby. The coming-of-age film was loved by everyone and Dimple emerged as a trendsetter with this film. Mind you, it was a great deal at that time, unlike the Student Of The Year days today when stars make their personal brands way before the film's release. Kapadia's innocence and nuanced performance on-screen won over everyone.

2. Saagar

Dimple's comeback film Saagar may have been a cliched love triangle but her performance in the film fetched her a Filmfare award for best actress. Starring Rishi Kapoor and Kamal Haasan in lead roles, the film also became popular for a pathbreaking topless shot of the actress.

3. Rudaali

While Dimple had become popular for her glamorous avatars on-screen, she shed all that for her 1993 film Rudaali which was based on a short story penned by Bengali writer Mahasweta Devi. The film was directed by Kalpana Lajmi and starred Dimple in a role based on professional women mourners who are hired to mourn the death of male relatives, which is a custom that was earlier prevalent in Rajasthan. Dimple's moving performance in the film fetched her a National award and is till date considered to be one of her best.

4. Dil Chahta Hai

Farhan Akhtar's directorial debut Dil Chahta Hai became a cult film that traced the coming-of-age tale of three best friends starring Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna in the lead. Dimple Kapadia made a cameo in the film as the love interest of Akshaye Khanna's character. Their story in the film had a young guy-older woman angle and while Dimple looked resplendent in the film, she pulled off the character of Tara with such grace that it is impossible to forget her performance in the film.

5. Finding Fanny

Finding Fanny directed by Homi Adajania starred Deepika Padukone, Naseeruddin Shah, Pankaj Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia in lead roles. The satirical road comedy starred Kapadia in the role of Deepika's mother-in-law, a whimsical character who brought much comic relief to the film with her performance. The film is not everyone's cup of tea but there's no denying that Kapadia puts her best bits in this film.

Well, looking at these amazing performances, we are sure that Dimple Kapadia is a great choice for the Christopher Nolan film. While we are yet to know what her character will be, we are sure she'll definitely ace it.
