Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma, who will be seen on screen together for the very first time (in their long career of acting) in Sui Dhaaga: Made In India, are promoting eco-friendly Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. Talking about how one needs to use environment-friendly means to celebrate the elephant-headed God, Varun, in a statement to After Hrs, said, "I think the awareness is spreading. We can’t harm nature anymore. The Sui Dhaaga team has taken an initiative of making a Ganpati out of clay and thread, which is biodegradable. I think that’s the way we should ring in Ganesh Utsav."

Urging people to opt for eco-friendly Ganesh idols this Ganesh Chaturthi, Anushka, told the leading daily, "It’s important that while we celebrate the festival, we also take social responsibility in doing so. The environment gets polluted due to the non-biodegradable idols. It is not good for the aquatic life and hampers their well-being. We should take an oath to not harm the environment because the very deity we pray to is here to protect all species over here. So as human beings, we should also save nature."

Helmed by Dum Laga Ke Haisha’s Sharat Katariya, Sui Dhaga is a story of pride and self-reliance, rooted in the heart of India. Varun and Anushka play the role of a small town couple – Mauji, a tailor and Mamta, an embroider respectively. Bankrolled by Yash Raj Films, Sui Dhaga: Made in India is slated to release on September 28, 2018.

Earlier today, Varun took to the photo-sharing app to share a picture with his Sui Dhaaga co-star Anushka Sharma, where the duo is seen posing beside a Ganesh idol. The actor wrote on Instagram, "#GANPATIBAAPAMORIYAA. Let’s celebrate an eco friendly Ganapati this year. Team Sui Dhaaga made a bio degradable Ganapati. #sababadhiyaahai" Check out the picture below:

On the professional front, Anushka will soon be seen alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif in Aanand L. Rai’s Zero, which is slated to release on December 21, 2018.
