When Go Goa Gone came out in 2014, it was something usual for the Bollywood audiences then. While we had our share of monsters in Hindi cinema thanks to the Ramsays, Ram Gopal Varma and Vikram Bhatt, the concept of zombies was something different for the audiences then (even though Hollywood is quite obsessed with zombies). Moreover, Go Goa Gone wasn't a horror film, it was touted as Bollywood's first zomcom, i.e. zombie comedy. The movie, while a hit with the critics, didn't click at the box office. But later, the movie turned out to be a cult classic, with many clamouring for a sequel.

Now the sequel has been greenlighted with most of the major stars like Saif Ali Khan, Kunal Kemmu, Anand Tiwari and Vir Das, returning and Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK directing. However. while the first film ended on a cliffhanger, the sequel will not be a continuation but will tell a different story altogether. Not just that, there won't be any zombies this time. Instead the heroes will be fighting aliens in the sequel.

Raj & DK confirmed this to DNA, when they said, "It's a really crazy fun script. Last time, we had zombies. This time, Saif and the gang will fight aliens." The director duo is currently basking in the success of Stree, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, that they have written and produced.

Unlike zombies, aliens have not been an 'alien' concept in Bollywood (pardon the pun). However, we have seen friendlier versions till now in movies like Koi Mil Gaya, Joker, Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai, PK etc. It would be refreshing to see the scarier ones. So Go Goa Gone 2, we are waiting for you!
