It was a big night for all the hockey lovers at the Hockey World Cup 2018 was declared 'open' at the Kalinga stadium in Bhubaneshwar. Many Bollywood personalities including Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and AR Rahman attended this opening night and dazzled the onlookers with their terrific acts. While the Chak De! India actor recreated his iconic dialogue from the film and reminisced his days as a reel life coach, Madhuri performed on Mother Earth in a ballet that celebrated the tribal culture of India as well as the mixture of the influence of West with the East. Recently the Hockey World Cup was embroiled in a controversy when the Kalinga Sen issued a statement against SRK. They threatened to throw ink at the star for hurting the sentiments of the Odia people and dishonouring their cultures by portraying the Kalinga war in Asoka in an incorrect way. However, the threat was withdrawn later.
