Poonam Pandey Claims Maharashtrian Identity and Addresses Kanpur Rumours
During an appearance on the Cyrus Says podcast hosted by comedian Cyrus Broacha, Pandey addressed misperceptions regarding her place of birth and residence. Clarifying her roots, she stated that she has no connection to Kanpur and has never visited the city.
"Please guys, I've never been there in my life. Main Mumbai se hu, born and brought up. Mi ikadchi aahe. Mi Maharashtrian aahe (I am from Mumbai, born and brought up. I am from here. I am Maharashtrian)," Pandey explained during the interaction.
When Broacha expressed surprise over the revelation, Pandey recounted how erroneous media coverage had created false narratives about her personal life and property ownership. "Jab cervical cancer ka ye bada case... So apparently there is a house, mera khud ka ghar hai Kanpur mein, jaha se mujhe arrest bhi kar liya tha. To ye sab kuch news pe aaraha hai. Not me. Apparently I have a house in Kanpur. I've never been to Kanpur!" she said, referencing past media reports that alleged she owned a residence and faced legal trouble in the city.
