Kabir Singh: CBFC Member Slams the Shahid Kapoor Starrer on Twitter, Calls it a 'Terribly Misogynystic and Violent Film'

Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani's Kabir Singh released last Friday (June 21) and ever since, has been the centre of discussion thanks to its content. The film received mixed reviews from critics as many found the film's content misogynistic. In the film, Shahid Kapoor plays the character of a surgeon whose life heads into a downward spiral of alcohol, drugs and sex after he breaks up with the love of his life. Social media is already full of opinions suggesting that the film promotes misogyny and now a CBFC Board member too has taken to Twitter to share her views on the same. Tweeting about Kabir Singh, Vaani Tripathi Tikoo said, "I'm serious about this thought that Misogyny is "Infectious" have been noticing the narrative around #KABIRSINGH past few days..What a terribly misogynistic and extremely violent film! Arjun Reddy was bad enough and now this remake! Am I surprised it's doing well ...Well Well!"

Vaani expressed her disappointment over the film's narrative in a series of tweets. Despite the mixed responses over social media, Kabir Singh is being loved by the audiences at least the box office figures suggest so. Kabir Singh directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga is a remake of the popular Telugu film, Arjun Reddy. The film starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in lead roles is currently in theatres.
