Manmarziyaan looks no less than an experiment. For the first time, Anurag Kashyap is making a movie that doesn't look like an Anurag Kashyap movie. The romantic drama stars the talented Taapsee Pannu, charming Vicky Kaushal and, thankfully, returning to work after a sabbatical, Abhishek Bachchan. Manmarziyaan opened in theatres along with 8 other movies last Friday. The box office numbers of day 1 of its run are out and the movie has been able to do a decent business.
Popular trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter and posted the day 1 numbers, which were Rs 3.52 crore. He added that the movie started on a "dull note" but started to pick up pace towards the end of the day. We are hearing great things about Manmarziyaan. So, there is a good possibility that the movie might benefit from the wonders of word-of-mouth publicity. Manmarziyaan Movie Review: Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Abhishek Bachchan's Performances Sparkle in This Character-Driven Love Story.
#Manmarziyaan has a low Day 1... Started on a dull note in the morning, but picked up towards evening... North circuits were better... Biz will scale upwards on Sat and Sun [a norm these days], but real test will be on weekdays... Fri ₹ 3.52 cr. India biz.

Our in-house film critic, Sreeju Sudhakaran thought the movie was worth giving 3 stars out of 5. If you need help deciding whether you should watch Manmarziyaan or not this weekend, you should read the following excerpt from Sreeju's review. He wrote, "Manmarziyaan is an unusual love story that uses a heard-before premise and let the characters drive it to achieve a different effect. Backed by some good writing and excellent performances, Manmarziyaan works for those looking for something different in movies that deal with the matters of the heart."
