In the history of Box Office India collections, Deepika Padukone’s Padmaavat will be remembered as one of the most successful movies. The epic-period drama Padmaavat based on Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s poem of the same name has struck a chord with movie buffs so much so that the film is running successfully in the second week post its release on January 25, 2018. Padmaavat’s box office report on Day 17 reads Rs 239.50 crores in India. With these impressive box office collection figures, Padmaavat has officially become Deepika Padukone’s highest grossing film eclipsing her previous best film, Chennai Express. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directed Padmaavat is also most successful venture for film’s heroes, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh.

Movie critic and trade Analyst shared the box office report of the film on his Twitter handle writing, “#Padmaavat remains STEADY... Biz should grow on Sat and Sun... [Week 3] Fri 3.50 cr. Total: ₹ 239.50 cr. India biz.” It is pleasing to see the film do well especially after the number of obstructions it faced on its way to release. From battling hooliganism from Karni Sena, a Hindu extremist Rajput caste organization in the country to getting banned in several states, Padmaavat saw it all. However, the testing period for the makers and cast are over as they can sit back and enjoy the sweet taste of success.

Made on a solid budget of over Rs 200 crores (making it the most expensive with a female lead), the film has earned over Rs 400 crores worldwide. It has broken several records at the international box offices. Among the many records, the most illustrious one is that Padmaavat BO collections are the highest ever for a Bollywood film not starring one of the three Khans – Shah Rukh, Salman and Aamir.

If we leave SS Rajamouli's magnum opus Bahubali franchise (as it is primarily a Telugu film) Padmaavat is at eighth place in all-time highest grossing film at the domestic box office. Dangal (Rs 388 crores), PK (339.50 crores), Tiger Zinda Hai (339.08 crores), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (320.34 crores), Sultan (300.45 crores), Dhoom 3 (280.25 crores) and Krrish 3 (240.45 crores) are ahead of Padmaavat. The leading lady is confident of more magic from the film’s dream run at the box office on weekend. Deepika was quoted by news agency IANS saying, "It's not over as in the weekend more people will go to watch our film." Love you queen!
