Can Anees Bazmee make another enjoyable comic caper like Welcome? That's the thought we had in mind when we went to watch Pagalpanti. Like Welcome, Pagalpanti has an ensemble cast in Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Arshad Warsi, Pulkit Samrat, Ileana D'Cruz, Kriti Kharbanda, Urvashi Rautela and Saurabh Shukla. The movie's trailers had failed to entice us, but so was the case with Anees' last film, Mubarakan, and that film turned out to be a pleasant surprise. With those hopes, we begin watching Pagalpanti. Pagalpanti: Before the Release of Anil Kapoor, John Abraham-Starrer, Ranking All Anees Bazmee Comedies From Worst to Best!.

As the name suggests, this is a complete madcap comedy that has bumbling characters and crazy situations. John, Arshad and Pulkit play three buddies in London, who just can't make a business work because one of them has misfortune hanging on his end. A botched car delivery puts them in the employ of two gangsters, Raja and his brother-in-law WiFi, leading to several funny situations.

The surprising fact about Pagalpanti is that like Mubarakan, the trailer belies the fact that the movie does have some humour, arising from the madcap situations and the comic timing of the actors. It isn't as funny as Welcome or No Entry, but it does offer some good laughs. There are times, though, where the actors try too hard but the comedy doesn't work. The editing is also problematic, but overall, the first half is decent enough.
